Pst Kong Hee - Discovering Your Purpose In The Secular (January - March 2007)

Discovering Your Purpose In The Secular

Your calling from God can be discovered in your mundane everyday life. As you work out there in your marketplace as bankers, teachers, office administrators & others, you can discover your purpose in the secular. Discover your purpose in the secular, and make a difference as 'salt' in your marketplace.

In this sermon Kong Hee held up Oprah Winfrey as an example of worldly success and tells the listeners at CHC that God is working in her life and this is more or less a role model for CHC people to look to. "Today, Oprah Winfrey is the first American-African woman billionaire in the world. In a recent interview, Oprah said, “Failure is really God’s way of saying, ‘Excuse me, you’re moving in the wrong direction.’” Just change the track you are walking on!

God wastes nothing in your life. Every disappointment can be a new appointment. Every stumbling block can be a new starting block. Every tombstone can be a new stepping stone. When you are walking in your purpose, even when bad things happen, they will all work together for your good (Rom. 8:28)."

Firstly, Oprah Winfrey does NOT believe that Jesus Christ is the only Savior to come to God. Jesus said I am the way, truth and life, no man comes to the Father except through Jesus. Does Oprah believe and put her faith in Jesus ? NO. Check here...

Oprah Winfrey rejects the God of the Bible. She does NOT accept the Jehovah is a "jealous God" whom Jesus says we must love with all our hearts with all our souls and with all our might.

It is a well know fact that Oprah is steep in new age religion. Eckhart Tolle is the prophet in her life and Jesus is not the only way and Jesus just came to give you some principles to live and create a higher consciousness ?

What does Oprah Winfrey's beliefs and the beliefs have in common ?

Kong Hee does not do justice to God's words meant for a believer when he quote Rom 8: 28 partially. Here is the verse stated in full:

Rom 8:28 And we know that for those WHO LOVE God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
